EQhq was founded by David Smith, author of 'The Emotionally Intelligent Leader: The Missing Ingredient for Leadership Success,' and 'The Emotionally Intelligent Salesperson: Understanding How Emotions Impact Sales Success."Through his passion to develop enjoyable and productive workplaces, David launched EQhq to specialise in developing emotionally intelligent leaders, through assessment feedback and facilitation of development workshops. People who have been through EQhq programs feel better at work, facilitate more productive work environments and are more effective at leading and engaging others.

David Smith is the director and founder of EQhq established to inspire leaders to develop their emotional intelligence capabilities. In 2017 David published "The Emotionally Intelligent Leader: The Missing Ingredient for Leadership Success", which has sold over 1000 copies worldwide, and recently published "The Emotionally Intelligent Salesperson: Understanding How Emotions Impact Sales Success"
David is a Master Trainer of Genos Emotional Intelligence Programs and delivers the Genos Certification Program across Australia for aspiring emotional intelligence practitioners. David is also one of a few facilitators accredited to deliver the full suite of Genos Emotional Intelligence Enhancement Programs designed to improve leadership effectiveness and develop workplace behaviours that drive performance throughout all levels of an organisation.
David has helped over 1300 leaders improve their leadership effectiveness by providing feedback on how well they demonstrate emotionally intelligent behaviours in their leadership role through one on one executive coaching and facilitation of workshops. He has also been the keynote speaker at conferences in Sydney, Singapore and Queenstown, and regularly presents at Swinburne University, introducing the concept of emotional intelligence to CEOs, General Managers and consultants. In addition, David is an accredited trainer in Everything DiSC Work of Leaders, Management, Workplace, Sales Productive Conflict and the recently released Agile EQ profile. In 2021, David launched his DiSCoverEI Leadership Development Program combining Emotional Intelligence Feedback and Development with DiSC Personality Profiling to unleash leadership potential within organisations.
With over 30 years leadership and management experience, David has always had responsibility and passion for developing leaders. David has completed an MBA majoring in HR and Organisational Development, a Business Degree majoring in Marketing and Corporate Strategy and holds a Diploma in Performance Coaching. David is a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders (FIML) and a Certified Professional of the Australian Human Resources Institute (CAHRI). He has delivered emotional intelligence courses in a broad range of sectors including finance, education, health, professional services and government institutions.
